Historical Attractions
Antietam National Battlefield
This site commemorates the Civil War Battle of Antietam on September 17, 1862, which ended the Confederate Army’s first invasion into the North and resulted in Abraham Lincoln issuing the preliminary Emancipation Proclamation.
Manassas National Battlefield Park
This is the site of two major Civil War battles, the First Battle of Bull Run and Second Battle of Bull Run. It is also the location of The Fauquier and Alexandria Turnpike Bridge, known simply as the Stone Bridge.
Harpers Ferry National Historical Park
Explore 19th-century buildings, a Civil War Museum and John Brown’s Fort, a key site in an 1859 abolitionist raid. The Point, the location where the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers meet, offers views of both Maryland and Virginia.
Leesburg, Virginia
The county seat of Loudoun County, Virginia, Leesburg was built in 1740. The town is named after the Lee family, who were early leaders of the town and ancestors of Robert E. Lee and features several national parks and historic homes.
Hiking & Outdoor Activities
Hidden View is in the ideal location to enjoy the great outdoors. Only a few miles away sit two entrances to the world renowned Appalachian Trail in the Blue Ridge Mountains: nearby Harper’s Ferry National Historic Park has excellent hiking, and guests love biking along the Washington-Old Dominion Trail.
Harper’s Ferry National Historic Park
Harper’s Ferry is the mid-point of the 2,178-mile Appalachian National Scenic Trail, and home to the non-profit Appalachian Trail Conservancy (ATC) headquarters. Dogs are allowed on this trail, as long as they are on a leash.
Washington-Old Dominion Trail
This 45-mile paved trail allows visitors to run, cycle or skate along the former roadbed of the Washington & Old Dominion Railroad. There is also a 32-mile gravel horse trail, and multiple parking areas along the trails.

The area is brimming with special events throughout the year including live weekend music and specialty food trucks at wineries and breweries throughout the year, concerts at Hollywood Casino in nearby Charles Town, Spring garden and flower shows and intimate concerts at a number of area restaurants.
